Aaron is training to be a nurse at the University of Brighton.
Ellie works as an arts facilitator and co-ordinates Young People Projects.
Our story begins... when Aaron visited Kenya as part of his Gap Year with Camps International back in 2010 and fell in love with Kenya. Before Aaron had even left for his trip, at his briefing, our mum Karen Rudd, asked if there was a similar programme for nurses and healthcare professionals. Camps agreed that this was a great idea in premise, but mum was tasked to find 20 nurses before anything could go ahead...CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
She posted a message on the Practice Nursing Forum and within 30 minutes she had 50 replies. In November 2011 19 Nurses including our mum, and three volunteers including Ellie and her friend Caitriona Gill went on the first Healthcare Outreach Programme! In two weeks, all who attended were changed and wanted to continue to make an impact.
In 2011, in 8 clinics, we saw 7, 500 people. In 2012, the Healthcare Outreach Programme saw 8,000 people in 8 clinics.
Ellie and Karen are returning to Kenya this year as part of the third Healthcare Outreach Programme. Aaron hopes to return after he finishes university. This year, jigger eradication, malaria screening and treatment and a new opthalmology clinic (eye specialist) to make full use of donated glasses will be included along with seeing everything and anything that come to our clinics.

After visiting Kenya, Ellie and Cat went on to travel together for five months across India, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong. Cat is still a backpacker, currently living in Sydney. Having been to Kenya herself with the Healthcare Outreach Programme, she is so glad she might be able to help by doing something while she is away!
